How to Suspend, Unsuspend, and Terminate Accounts Safely
Account actions in WHM have operational and customer-impact consequences, so they should be handled with clear notes and verification.
Operational Rules
- Suspend an account when billing, abuse, or security policy requires temporary restriction.
- Unsuspend only after confirming that the triggering issue has been resolved.
- Terminate only when the account is fully eligible for closure and backups are no longer required.
- Record the reason for each action in the client or service history.
Risk Control
Before termination, confirm domain dependencies, email retention requirements, and any active recovery request. Permanent deletion should never be treated as a routine shortcut.
